Position Overview
The Mammography Operations & Quality Improvement Consultant partners with healthcare systems, breast imaging centers, and radiology departments to elevate clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and patient access. This role focuses on aligning people, processes, and technology to deliver consistent, high-quality breast imaging services. The consultant functions as both a strategic advisor and a hands-on clinical expert, working directly with teams to implement sustainable and measurable improvements.
Scope of Services
- Comprehensive assessment of mammography operations, workflows, and image quality
- Development of customized improvement strategies tailored to each organization
- On-site coaching and mentoring of technologists and leadership
- Implementation of workflow redesign and efficiency models
- Technology optimization including AI integration
- Establishment of data-driven performance metrics and dashboards
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Clinical Assessment
- Evaluate current imaging quality, positioning techniques, and repeat rates
- Assess technologist workflow, room utilization, and staffing patterns
- Analyze radiologist workflow, interruptions, and reading efficiency
- Review scheduling templates, patient flow, and access limitations
- Identify gaps in performance, consistency, and resource utilization
Image Quality & Technologist Development
- Standardize positioning techniques and best practices across teams
- Provide real-time coaching to improve image quality consistency
- Develop competency validation tools and training programs
- Align technologist performance with radiologist expectations
- Reduce repeat imaging and improve diagnostic confidence
Workflow Optimization
- Redesign workflows to minimize inefficiencies and delays
- Reduce unnecessary interruptions to radiologists
- Improve communication pathways between technologists and radiologists
- Enhance throughput while maintaining quality and patient care
- Implement role clarity and delegation strategies
Scheduling & Access Improvement
- Evaluate and redesign scheduling templates
- Increase patient appointment availability
- Align staffing with patient demand
- Optimize use of equipment and imaging rooms
- Reduce patient wait times
Technology & AI Integration
- Assess current use of imaging technology and software
- Identify opportunities to integrate AI and automation
- Improve workflow efficiency through technology solutions
- Support implementation of new tools to enhance diagnostic accuracy
Data & Performance Metrics
- Develop dashboards to track quality, efficiency, and access
- Monitor repeat rates, throughput, and productivity
- Provide actionable insights to leadership
- Establish continuous improvement processes
Leadership & Culture Development
- Partner with leaders to improve team engagement and accountability
- Promote a collaborative and patient-centered culture

Qualifications
- Registered Mammography Technologist ARRT (R)(M)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Management
- Extensive experience in breast imaging and leadership
- Expertise in workflow optimization and image quality improvement
- Strong understanding of radiologist workflow
- Experience with mammography systems and PACS
- Proven ability to lead change and improve performance
